Pro-life folks have been under assault of late, especially on college campuses.
And part of the problem is that folks on the left think that being upset with the pro-life position somehow justifies their actions.
That belief was on full display during an incident at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The pro-life group Created Equal was on the campus when a woman ripped a sign out of the hands of one member of the group, Austin Beigel.
As she walks away with the sign Beigel cries out that she’s stolen the sign as she walks toward a police officer.
The woman can’t believe it when the officer stops her.
From Daily Wire:
“Why’d you rip it out of his hands?” the officer asks.
“Because this restricts women’s rights,” the woman responds, pointing to the pro-life sign.
The officer informs her that she does not “have a right to take someone’s property” even if she doesn’t agree with the group’s protected speech. “You can ignore them,” he offers, adding, “They have a right to be here.”
“This is why women have such a problem getting abortions in North Carolina and y’all just let them get away with this s***,” the woman says, nearly breaking into tears.
The feminist is then arrested for larceny.
“I cannot believe this is happening,” she says.
The officer is great at explaining reality to her.
But she’s astonished that her feelings and emotions don’t trump the law, that what she believes shouldn’t allow her to do what she wants. And she clearly thinks her opinions entitle her to censor those with whom she disagrees.
Created Equal President Mark Harrington makes the point that it’s that surprise on her face that shows how colleges are increasing in this kind of
“Students being groomed on college campuses to be leaders, writers, and thinkers of the Left are increasing in censorship and violence against those with whom they disagree. Their surprise when held accountable indicates college campuses have become safe spaces for pro-abortion violence. Students at UNC and campuses like it are in dire need of remedial First Amendment training,” Harrington said in a statement sent to The Daily Wire.
Beigel was allegedly attacked last month on the same campus by another pro-abortion activist, who punched and kicked him. That attack was also caught on camera and the woman was arrested for assault.
