Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to drastically change her party.
In a tweet, the New York congresswoman said she wants to return her party to “the New Deal again.”
“I want to be the party of the New Deal again. The party of the Civil Rights Act,
the one that electrified this nation and fights for all people,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “For that, many would call us radical. But we aren’t ‘pushing the party left,’ we are bringing the party home.”

Her tweet was shared by fellow Democrat and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
“It’s time that we become the party of FDR again.
It’s time for us to become the party of the Civil Rights Act again.

Twitchy reports AOC was immediately met with some resistance:
“It’s time to become the party of FDR again!
It’s time to become anti-war again!”
Who’s going to tell @AOC that FDR drafted 16 million Americans (11% of the country) to serve in WWII?
FDR also imprisoned hundreds of thousands of Japanese-Americans because of their race. pic.twitter.com/c74SgPJLGg
