President-elect Donald Trump is exploring the possibility of revamping White House press briefings, potentially sidelining established media organizations in favor of personalities from the new media landscape, such as Megyn Kelly and Joe Rogan.
This idea was discussed by Donald Trump Jr. on his podcast, where he mentioned a conversation with his father about the podcasting world and the potential for rearranging the press briefing seating chart.
While the White House controls credentialing, the White House Correspondents’ Association decides seating arrangements, making it uncertain whether new media personalities would be welcomed.
Trump Jr. responded, “We’re gonna break some news here. I literally had this conversation with — I was flying back, I was on the plane with my father, I think it was coming back from the SpaceX launch with Elon [Musk] last week. And we were talking about the podcast world and some of our friends and Rogan and guys like you.”
President-elect Trump, “That’s a great idea, Don.”
“So that may be something in the works,” Trump Jr. added.
