Charlamagne tha God, host of “The Breakfast Club,” recently butted heads with CNN’s Anderson Cooper after Charlamagne criticized the Network’s coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Charlamagne argued that CNN had spent more time discussing Harris’ ethnicity than Trump’s rhetoric.
“It’s crazy, because you still don’t have news networks having that conversation, like when somebody says, when somebody questions Kamala Harris’s blackness or, ‘Is she a DEI hire?’ you all will have roundtable discussions about that, asking that question,” Charlamagne said.
“How come we’re not having a roundtable discussion asking, ‘Is Donald Trump a fascist?’ Actually, not even asking — he’s stating it,” Charlamagne pressed.
“How come that is not the topic of discussion on networks like CNN every day?”
Cooper gave pushback, and argued that he discusses it “every night.”
“I feel like I heard more on this network about, ‘Is Kamala Harris Black?’ than I do about Donald Trump being a fascist,” Charlamagne said.
“Americans need to keep looking at the rhetoric of Donald Trump because I don’t know why we’re even thinking about electing somebody who is talking about putting people in camps,” Charlamagne pressed. “I don’t know why we want to elect somebody who’s talking about mass deportation.”
“I don’t know why we’re having this conversation about somebody who wants to terminate the Constitution, to overthrow the results of an election,” Charlamagne added.
Cooper shot back, saying, “Honestly, that’s [expletive].”
Cooper then denied that CNN anchors had been discussing whether Harris is black, saying, “I don’t think any anchor on this network has been going around saying, ‘Is she black?'”
Charlamagne countered, noting “I’ve seen those roundtable discussions a lot.”
“Now that’s [expletive], Anderson, for you to say that y’all don’t have those conversations,” he added.
