Former President Donald Trump survived a recent assassination attempt, prompting intense investigation and speculation.
Details emerged of snipers positioned in the target property, the shooter’s movements on a nearby building, and a local officer’s hesitant response to the assailant.
Rep. Cory Mills raised concerns about the security setup, hinting at intentional negligence.
The FBI launched an inquiry into the officer’s actions during the incident, where the assailant fired shots at Trump before being neutralized.
“I look at all of these things and I look at different videos where an assailant will pull a firearm on a law enforcement officer and the first thing they do is they immediately pull and draw and mitigate the threat and the risk.” Rep. Mills said.
“The amount of negligence, the amount of mistakes that were made here, I have a very difficult time not leaning myself towards this was intentional as opposed to fecklessness,” he said.
“Dial it back, but do not blame this on Joe Biden!” CNN anchor Kate Bolduan said.
“I have not made an accusation of something. I just want to make sure we’re covering our bases to ensure that we get a proper investigation at all levels to ensure this doesn’t happen again and that our president can be safe.”
Local officers expressed frustration over potential missed opportunities to prevent the attack, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.
“The officer had both hands up on the roof to get up onto the roof, [and] never made it because the shooter had turned towards the officer, and rightfully and smart fully, the officer let go,” Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe said.
The complex events surrounding the assassination attempt have raised questions about security protocols and response strategies.
