Prominent Democratic lawyer and former House Judiciary Committee chief counsel Julian Epstein delivered a scathing critique of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ handling of the Georgia election interference case against former President Trump.
On a conservative radio show, Epstein labeled Willis’ conduct an “utter embarrassment” and said she should resign or recuse herself due to an apparent conflict of interest from her romantic relationship with a prosecutor on the case.
“The system is completely out of control… This is a catastrophe that is completely of the making of the Biden administration,” Epstein said.
Epstein also heavily criticized President Biden’s immigration policies and their impacts.
While originally optimistic about Biden’s economic plan, Epstein expressed skepticism about the administration’s ability to bridge economic gaps.
“The system doesn’t have the capacity to handle it. When you consider just the inability of… being able to integrate into the system in any meaningful way. Look at what’s happening in Europe. It’s been a disaster in Europe,” Epstein said.
“If Fani Willis had any real interest in this case she would resign or accuse herself from it,” Epstein said. “This is an utter embarrassment. I mean this looks to me, in my opinion, this was a kickback scheme where she hired a boyfriend who was then providing her all kinds of benefits. I think the whole claim about the reimbursements is hard to believe.”
“I think the claims about when the relationship began, I think those are very hard to believe. I think the judge was right to allow the Trump team to appeal. And I think there’s not just the question about whether she should be kicked off the case.”
“I don’t know how you argue this is not an appearance of a conflict. In any case, this is an utter embarrassment for the, you know, amongst many other embarrassments for the law-fare crowd that is, you know, persecuting Trump in the 11th hour of this campaign.”
Epstein’s remarks signal growing concern among some Democrats over the direction of the party and effects of its policies.
