City’s ‘racial equity’ official says she wants US to burn to the ground

The City of College Park, Maryland hired Kayla Aliese Carter as a “Racial Equity Officer” to implement a racial equity agenda across city departments.

Carter has made controversial social media posts defending violence and promoting revolution against the U.S.

She supports “Black liberation” and said she is planning with activists for “how we will eat and live and grow after we burn it all down.”

“Why do Black people always have to rationalize our violence and anger?” Carter wrote online.

As equity officer, Carter oversees a team reviewing policies for racial bias and leads the city’s response to address systemic racism.

However, Carter’s posts also contain racialized comments, support for violence as a means for change, and complaints about being forced to work under “capitalism” rather than her preferred pursuits.

“Remember we are at war against colonialism,” she wrote. “We can’t forget.”

“I can’t wait for society to collapse so MY ideology can rise from the ashes!” she wrote separately.

“Today I cohosted and occupied space with dozens of people who have committed their lives, businesses, and money to Black liberation. On all days, every day, each day. Light workers. Already planning (BEEN PLANNING) for how we will eat and live and grow after we burn it all down,” she stated in 2020.

“Do y’all understand why the oppressed are constantly shamed out of using violence?? BECAUSE THE OPPRESSOR WANTS TO BE THE SOLE PROFITEER OF VIOLENCE. THEY DON’T WANT TO DEAL WITH BACK TALK. ‘DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO’ FACE A–. No,” she said later in 2020.

“The police ARE the White supremacists,” she wrote in 2020.

“Tired of being so underpaid also tired of applying to new jobs. I don’t wanna go back to s*lling dr*gs but this economy is getting desperate,” Carter wrote in 2023.

“Engaging in important dialogues exploring the impact of capitalism on daily life (its a Tuesday and I have to work,” Carter wrote on X.

“I need a new job but the problem is that I don’t want to work I just wanna lay in my bed being a girl can anyone help me with this?” Carter wrote in 2024.

Her hiring and role have sparked concerns about her suitability due to her radical views.
