Ex-Obama Official Tried To Remove Chinese Drone Company From U.S. List Of Chinese Military Companies

via ABC

Former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, along with two other former Obama administration officials, lobbied the Pentagon on behalf of a Chinese drone company to remove it from a U.S. list of Chinese military-linked firms.

The drone company, SZ DJI Technology, had been placed on the list due to national security concerns from the Pentagon.

Lynch and her colleagues at the Paul, Weiss law firm sent a letter to the Pentagon arguing for the de-listing, but did not disclose that they were representing the Chinese client.

The letter, obtained by Reuters, renewed calls for closing loopholes that allow former officials to avoid registering as foreign agents.

The top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee criticized Lynch’s advocacy for entities connected to China’s military.

“It is appalling that former senior U.S. officials use their connections to serve the interests of U.S. adversaries,” Sen. Jim Risch said.
