Mark Cuban’s CEO Admits to Race-Based ‘Leadership Changes’ Amid Controversy

via CBS Sunday Morning

Mark Cuban and Elon Musk engaged in a public disagreement over Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, with Cuban defending them and Musk labeling them as a form of racism.

Cuban argued that DEI hiring policies open up the hiring pool for qualified candidates, while Musk disagreed, stating that DEI is just another form of racism.

Elon Musk said, “DEI is just another word for racism.”

The resurfacing of a video featuring Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall revealed her use of DEI policies to hire based on race and gender, contradicting Cuban’s assertion that DEI hiring policies are not race-based.

Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall said, “I know the business case for diversity.”

“And you have to have a diverse group of people around the table if you really want to be as successful as you can be. And so we took that on, so we laid out that vision, laid out a set of values, and then I had a one-on-one with all the employees and then made some leadership changes,” she continued.

“So, now we have almost 50 percent women in leadership and 47 percent people of color. Diversity matters. It matters,” declared Marshall.

Marshall openly admitted to removing and replacing employees to achieve diversity, indicating a disconnect between hiring the best-qualified candidates and fulfilling DEI quotas.
