Cheney Recirculates Stefanik Jan. 6 Statement After She Reportedly Deletes It

via NBC

Liz Cheney shared Rep. Elise Stefanik’s now-deleted statement on the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, in which Stefanik called for the perpetrators to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

“This is truly a tragic day for America,” Stefanik stated.

“I fully condemn the dangerous violence and destruction that occurred today at the United States Capitol. Americans have a Constitutional right to protest and freedom of speech, but violence in any form is absolutely unacceptable and anti-American. The perpetrators of this un-American violence and destruction must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Cheney later revealed that Stefanik had removed the statement from her website.

Stefanik’s characterization of the violence as “anti-American” and her subsequent change in describing the Capitol stormers were highlighted.

Cheney criticized Stefanik’s stance and labeled her as a “total crackpot,” emphasizing her opposition to those who propagated false claims about the 2020 election.
