Redemption: Tupac Case Reopened as Former Gang Leader Seeks New Path

via MTV News

Duane “Keffe D” Davis, a former gang leader, has hired a new attorney for his upcoming murder trial related to the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur.

The attorney, Carl Arnold, aims to secure Davis’ acquittal and anticipates him posting bail to aid in his defense.

Arnold wrote in a statement, that he was “honored by the opportunity to represent Mr. Duane Davis in what will be one of the most historic trials of the century.”

“We look forward to Mr. Davis being found not guilty at the conclusion of his trial,” continued the statement.

Davis, the sole survivor from the car involved in the shooting, has previously admitted his involvement, but his defense argues that his accounts were exaggerated for profit.

The attorney asserts that Davis cannot be convicted based solely on his confession and demands corroborating evidence.

Despite maintaining immunity from prosecution in 2008, Davis was indicted in Las Vegas and remains in jail on $750,000 bail.

His former lawyers emphasized his poor health, the absence of crucial evidence, and the unreliability of former gang members as witnesses.
