Massachusetts Governor Demands Help from Biden Admin as Dozens of Migrant Families Camp Out in Boston Airport

via NBC

The governor of Massachusetts is urging the Biden administration to address the situation at Boston’s international airport, where nearly 100 migrants, including families with young children, are camping out due to the city’s full shelters.

The governor called for congressional action and additional funding to manage the asylum processes and support states dealing with the migrant influx.

The state is facing a significant financial burden, with a potential cost of $915 million in 2025 due to the crisis.

“We need D.C. to act. We need Congress to act,” Gov. Maura Healey said.

“It’s exponentially more than our state has ever served in our emergency assistance program,” she said of the amount of illegals.

The airport’s interim CEO emphasized that the airport is not a suitable place for migrants to stay, and the state is struggling to accommodate the increasing homeless population, leading to families being placed on a waitlist for emergency shelters.

“When they come to Logan, we meet them, and we try to assist them, but we have to emphasize that Logan is not an appropriate place to house people,” Massachusetts Port Authority Interim CEO Ed Freni said.
