Abbott Keeps Up Border Security Fight After Supreme Court Rules Feds Can Cut Razor Wire

via ABC News

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing federal border officials to cut state-installed razor wire along the Rio Grande, despite opposition from Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton.

This decision is part of an ongoing legal battle between Texas and the Biden administration over border security.

The lawsuit reflects the broader conflict between Texas Republican leaders and the Democratic White House regarding border and immigration policy.

“This is not over,” Abbott wrote on X.

“Texas’ razor wire is an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings Biden encourages. I will continue to defend Texas’ constitutional authority to secure the border and prevent the Biden Admin from destroying our property.”

“The logical concern should be why the Federal Government continues to hinder Texas’ ability to protect its border, all while allowing for the exploitation, dangerous, & inhumane methods of permitting illegal immigrants, including children, to illegally cross a dangerous river where many have lost their lives,” Lt. Chris Olivarez said.

The matter has been passed back to the 5th Circuit appeals court for further consideration.

Texas officials continue to defend their use of razor wire as part of the $11 billion border initiative, Operation Lone Star, while criticizing federal policies for allowing illegal immigration.

There have been public clashes between Homeland Security and Texas officials regarding the handling of migrant incidents along the border.
