Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) introduced a bill to repeal the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) directive mandating coronavirus vaccination for Veterans Health Administration healthcare personnel.
Roy criticized the federal government for imposing vaccine mandates and emphasized the need to end all such mandates.
The bill has gained cosponsors and reflects the ongoing opposition to vaccine mandates among Republicans in Congress.
“The federal government never should have forced an experimental vaccine on the American people – especially after it knew the vaccine did nothing to prevent COVID transmission,” Roy stated.
Roy has been actively fighting against vaccine mandates and has previously introduced bills to protect unvaccinated troops and address the impact of mandates on military recruitment.
If passed, the bill could signify a significant step in opposition to federal vaccine mandates.
“These mandates forced people to choose between making their own healthcare decisions and their livelihoods; doing so was and still is unjust and un-American,” Roy said.
“The VA’s vaccine policy is the last federal mandate standing – it’s time to repeal it and end them all for good.”
