Iconic burger chain closes store over out-of-control crime

via ABC

The only In-N-Out Burger location in Oakland, California, is set to close due to ongoing crime issues, including car break-ins, theft, and armed robberies.

The decision was made to prioritize the safety of customers and employees.

Chief Operating Officer Danny Warwick said in a statement, “We are grateful for the local community, which has supported us for over 18 years, and we recognize that this closure negatively impacts our Associates and their families.”

“Additionally, this location remains a busy and profitable one for the company, but our top priority must be the safety and wellbeing of our Customers and Associates – we cannot ask them to visit or work in an unsafe environment,” he continued.

Despite being a profitable location, the company’s attempts to address the problem were unsuccessful.

The closure will affect the local community, and employees will either be relocated to nearby locations or offered severance packages.

The last day of operation is March 24, and nearby restaurants will remain open.
