Georg Clooney Releases Patriotic, Unifying Film for Holidays: ‘Boys In The Boat’

via ABC News

“The Boys in the Boat,” directed by George Clooney and premiered on Christmas Day, has received positive audience reviews, with an “A” CinemaScore rating and a 96 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film follows the story of a Depression-era crew team from the University of Washington as they compete in the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

The movie is based on the bestselling nonfiction book by Daniel James Brown and features a compelling storyline and characters. (Trending: Trump Releases Must-See Christmas Message)

Despite challenges in getting the film made, Clooney was drawn to the story’s message of unity and teamwork, which is reflected in the film’s portrayal of human resilience and cooperation.

“These are not easy films to get made anymore, because you can’t make them cheap,” Clooney said.

“They’re not designed to be big hits. These don’t open like a Marvel film,” he added.

“So studios don’t really jump at these kind of things. So you gotta kinda con them into doing it, a little.”

“They were like, ‘the budget, you haven’t met the budget, so the only way you can do it is if you give your fee back,’ which I did,” he said.

“I like what this says about us. We remind ourselves, when you see this, we’re really good when we work together.”
