Joe Biden Faces New Progressive Revolt

via 60 Minutes

President Joe Biden is facing criticism from progressive Democrats as the 2024 general election approaches.

Tensions have risen over his handling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and immigration policy, with Republicans linking support for Ukraine to changes in immigration policy.

Progressive Democrats are urging Biden to focus on their needs, warning of a split in the coalition that helped elect him. (Trending: Ousted Democrat Who Filmed Explicit Tape Blames Homophobia)

Rep. Pramila Jayapal said, “It’s always been challenging for us to pay attention to our base.”

“The base of the Democratic Party—young people, folks of color, immigrants—that was the coalition that allowed Joe Biden to get elected,” she continued.

“This coalition is splitting apart,” warned the Squad-member. “We need the president and his campaign to pay attention to what is happening on the ground.”

Rep. Greg Casar said, “This is just really bad negotiating on the part of Democrats. Would Democrats give away abortion rights in exchange for Ukraine money?” he asked.

“Why would Democrats give Trump-style immigration policy in exchange for Ukraine money?” reasoned the Texas Democrat.

Representative Ilhan Omar wrote, “I believe asylum seekers should be treated with humanity. I reject immigration policies that dehumanize migrants, turn away asylum seekers & violate international law,” insisted the Minnesota lawmaker.

“People flee to our border, clinging to the belief the US is a refuge,” she continued. “We must welcome those facing threats, as I was as a child refugee.”

Meanwhile, moderate Democrats and Republicans are pushing for increased border security due to a surge in illegal crossings.

“The White House should take the pulse of the public,” advised Sen. Joe Manchin. “Just take a look at what’s going on,” said the West Virginia Democrat. “They want border security. We’ve got too many people coming,” he lamented. “They don’t want to do any of this.”

The White House blames Republicans for the immigration issue, stating that Biden’s reform proposals have been rejected.

“Republicans refuse to deal with this issue,” said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre at a recent briefing. “It’s been almost three years since [Biden] put forth that legislation.”
