Missouri Abortions May End Up As Homicide Charges

via MinneapolisPolice

Some Missouri GOP lawmakers are proposing bills to allow homicide charges against women who receive abortions, extending beyond current pro-life laws.

The bills aim to apply homicide laws to women who undergo abortions, with exceptions for coercion, threats, or when necessary to save the woman’s life.

These proposals come as two groups seek to legalize abortion in more cases in Missouri, with potential impact on next year’s elections. (Trending: US State Unveils Controversial ‘Gender Neutral’ Laws)

“To me, it’s just about protecting a baby’s life like we do every other person’s life,” said Rep. Bob Titus.

“The prosecution is just a consequence of taking an innocent human life.”

Since the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Republican-controlled states have adopted bans or restrictions, while Democrat-controlled states have moved to protect access to abortion.

This move has faced opposition from prominent pro-life groups.

Similar legislation has been introduced in other states, but none have advanced through legislative committees.
