Gavin Newsom Makes Major Announcement

via FOX

The 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, closed due to an arson fire, is set to reopen.

The timeline for the site’s restoration was initially severely overestimated.

Governor Newsom initially suggested it could take months to reopen, then revised the estimate to weeks.

The suspect in the arson has been described by Cal Fire, and investigations revealed leasing violations by Apex Development Inc., the company that leased the land underneath the freeway.

Authorities have also suggested that the suspect may have received burns on his left left during the incident.

Newsom also mentioned the state’s takeover of four of Apex’s five leases and ongoing reviews of similar leases.

Additionally, he highlighted the damage to concrete pillars and the ongoing efforts to repair the site.

Local officials reported damage to nine of 100 of the support pillars.

Newsom promised giving the pillars immediate and indefinite attention until they all been completely restored.
