Mike Johnson Wastes No Time In Getting To Work

Newly Elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is ready to get to work, announcing an arduous plan for the House and pressing the whole of the group, “Would you all like to get right into governing?”

Johnson was unanimously elected into speakership by GOP lawmakers, following three weeks of the House sitting paralyzed without leadership.

In a letter written following his election, Johnson expressed plans to “finish appropriations” by mid-November, which includes eight bills.

“This is an ambitious schedule,” Johnson expressed, but emphasized his confidence in the House’s ability to get things done.

Johnson (R-LA) gave glory to God following his being elected as Speaker, which was confirmed following an unanimous Republican vote, which had not occurred in 12 years.

“I want to tell all my colleagues here what I told the Republicans in that room last night; I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a matter like this,” Johnson began.

“I believe that Scripture, the Bible, is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you, all of us, and I believe that God has ordained and allowed each one of us to be brought here for this specific moment in this time,” he said in reference to Romans chapter 13 of the Bible.

“This is my belief. I believe that each one of us has a huge responsibility today to use the gifts that God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great country — and they deserve it — and to ensure that our republic remains standing as the great beacon of light and hope and freedom in a world that desperately needs it.”

Johnson then addressed the first bill he would pass, which would secure funding for Israel’s fight against Hamas terrorists.

“The first bill that I’m gonna bring to this floor in just a little while will be in support of our dear, dear friend Israel, and we’re overdue. And given that, we’re going to show not only Israel but the entire world that the barbarism of Hamas that we have all seen play out on our television screens is wretched and wrong. And we’re going to stand for the good in that conflict.” (Trending: Dirty Trick Inside Biden’s $100 Billion Bill)

GOP lawmakers expressed unity and support for Johnson’s leadership, with some highlighting his intellect and character.

Johnson received backing from President Donald Trump as well as Majority Leader Steve Scalise and other leadership figures.

Lawmakers expressed confidence in the unity and mission of the party moving forward.

Rep. Michael Cloud, R-Texas, said, “I think it was important to make sure that we got the right person for the American people.”

“Mike is honest, hardworking, and principled — he is a great man and will make a great speaker. I look forward to continuing to work with my good friend to get this country back on track and deliver results for American families who deserve better from Washington,” Scalise said in a statement.
