33-year-old Larissa Borges died after suffering a double cardiac arrest.

Borges gained popularity with thousands of fans as a Brazilian fitness influencer. No official cause of death has been given.

“The pain of losing someone so young, just 33 years old, and so kind, is overwhelming,” a family statement revealed. “Our hearts are broken, and the longing we will feel is indescribable.”

She entered a coma before suffering a second cardiac arrest. Borges died as a result.

Deputy Gustavo Barcellos said, “There is a report of a possible ingestion of narcotic substances accumulated with alcoholic beverages.”

“The body was sent for necropsy. We will try to search through laboratory tests for substances that she possibly consumed,” he added.

Borges has over 30,000 followers on her fitness Instagram.

“Any amount, however small, will make a difference and help ease the financial burden facing the family during this very challenging time,” the family said.

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is when the heart suddenly stops beating. This can happen to anyone, regardless of age or health status.

However, it is more common in older adults. In the United States, about 350,000 people die from SCA each year.

SCA is rare in young people, but it does happen. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 2,000 young people under the age of 25 die from SCA each year.

There are a number of risk factors for SCA in young people, including:

Genetic heart conditions: Some people are born with heart conditions that make them more likely to have SCA. These conditions include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, long QT syndrome, and Brugada syndrome.

Medical conditions: Other medical conditions that can increase the risk of SCA in young people include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes.

Lifestyle factors: Certain lifestyle factors can also increase the risk of SCA in young people, such as smoking, drug abuse, and excessive alcohol consumption.
