Former Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy is running for Senate in Montana as a Republican to unseat three-term Democrat Sen. Jon Tester.
Sheehy is widely considered to be an American hero. He received the Bronze Star with Valor for Heroism in Combat and the Purple Heart Medal.

After serving tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Sheehy became a business owner and firefighter pilot.
Sheehy landed an endorsement from Newt Gingrich who said, “I want you to know that I’ve looked carefully, and I think Tim Sheehy is going to be a great United States senator.”

Sheehy has gained the support of Republican Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte; Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont.; and Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Mont.; as well as Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark.; Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss.; Ted Budd, R-N.C.; Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla.; Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn.; Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn.; John Barrasso, R-Wyo.; and Eric Schmitt, R-Mo.
Sheehy’s wife is also a U.S. Marine veteran. The pair share four children.
The approval rating of the United States Congress is roughly 19% based on a poll conducted by YouGov in July 2023. The poll also found that 72% of Americans have an unfavorable view of Congress. (Poll: Is CNN ‘Fake News’? VOTE)
