President Joe Biden is facing serious backlash by vacationing on the beach in Delaware while Hawaii burns in the deadliest wildfires in modern U.S. history. With 367 vacation days under his belt in just over 2.5 years, Biden has set an all-time presidential record by being out of the office roughly 40% of the time.

When asked by Bloomberg’s White House reporter Justin Sink about the rising death toll in Hawaii, Biden said “no comment” before heading home.

The outrage directed at Biden has also come from members of his own party. Democrat Hawaii state Rep. Mark Kaniela Ing said, “I campaigned for you. Now, when I lose dozens of my friends, family, and neighbors. This?” (Poll: Will You Vote For Trump or Biden? VOTE)

Kaniela Ing said Biden’s response is “shocking.” Kaniela Ing now serves as national director of the Green New Deal Network.

“When things like this happen, it’s really the time to — if you do the kind of work I do, when the wave crests, you’ve got to paddle hardest,” he said. “When tragedies like this occur, it’s shocking to see people just conducting business as usual. … On the one hand, you don’t want everyone to be in a perpetual somber mood, but on the other hand, how can you just carry on like that?”

“I think everyone deserves some time to take care of themselves, wind down, but, as someone in leadership role, you need to be ready any moment to offer some empathy and solace and comfort to people that are facing a lot of trauma right now,” he said.

“Whether or not it was as dismissive as originally reported, it is quite disappointing,” he added, adding, “I would expect more. He should be talking about what he’s done and what he will do,” he said. “The talking and offering words of solace and comfort, great. I’m not too hung up on that, to be honest. What I’m looking for is action.” (Trending: Records Reveal How Much Money Fauci Pulled In During COVID)

The video quickly of Biden went viral on social media as Americans reacted in disgust. “UNREAL,” political commentator Liz Wheeler responded in full caps. (Poll: Is the Country Going In The Right Direction Under Biden? VOTE)

“Biden was asked about the deadly fires in Hawaii where nearly 100 are dead and over 1,000 still missing,” political commentator Rogan O’Handley remarked. “He just destroyed his 2024 campaign.” (Poll: Is Joe Biden Fit to be President? VOTE)

The wildfires in Hawaii are now the deadliest in the United States’ modern history. 96 people are confirmed dead while over 1,000 are unaccounted for.

Strong winds from Hurricane Dora near Hawaii fanned the flames that ultimately destroyed the historic city of Lahaina. The damage is estimated to be over $5 billion so far.
