CNN Fires Don Lemon — And He’s NOT Happy About It

It’s been a very rocky 17 years for far-left, anti-Trump CNN host Don Lemon who learned today that his employment has been terminated.

Lemon expressed his shock and frustration on social media, saying that the network didn’t have the “decency to tell me directly.”

“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned,” Lemon wrote.

Lemon’s days at the network were numbered as incoming CNN CEO Chris Licht vowed to move the network away from blatantly biased, anti-Trump personalities like Lemon.

Licht is demanding that the network become less partisan and stir away from the angry years seen during the presidency of Donald Trump.

CNN previously canceled Lemon’s primetime show after eight long years and moved him into a morning slot. Lemon still managed to spark nationwide outrage with remarks condemned by critics as “sexist, misogynistic, and ageist.”

Lemon was placed on leave and required to “participate in formal training” and continue “to listen and learn” following inappropriate remarks on-air.

“We take this situation very seriously,” Licht continued. “It is important to me that CNN balances accountability with [fostering] a culture in which people can own, learn and grow from their mistakes.”

Despite these efforts, Lemon was still terminated.

CNN CEO Chris Licht said he wishes Lemon well and will cheer him on as he pursues future endeavors.

“To my CNN Colleagues, CNN and Don have parted ways. Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years,” Licht said.

He added: “CNN This Morning has been on the air for nearly six months, and we are committed to its success.”

Lemon responded, “After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have the decency to tell me directly.”

“At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network,” he continued.

“It is clear there are some larger issues at play. With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”

“I’m surprised you were surprised,” one person commented.

“What do you know about ‘decency’?” another person said.
