Liberal Hollywood actor Will Smith is trending in the news after walking on stage to assault comedian Chris Rock over a joke at the Oscars.

Smith went on to win his first Oscar for Best Actor for his leading role in “King Richard,” but this was overshadowed by his act of violence.

The Los Angeles Police Department has released a statement that Chris Rock has declined to press charges and police confirmed that they are not investigating the incident. “If the party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report,” the department said in a statement.

Last year, Smith notoriously backed the radical left-wing movement to “defund the police,” but suggested it should be promoted in a different, less threatening way.

“This is a difficult area to discuss, but I feel like the simplicity of Black Lives Matter was perfect,” Smith said. “Anybody who tries to debate Black Lives Matter looks ridiculous. So when I talk about the marketing of our ideas, Black Lives Matter was perfection.”

“Defund the police” turns people off, Smith argued. “‘Defund the police’ doesn’t get it done, no matter how good the ideas are,” he continued.

“I’m not saying we shouldn’t defund the police. I’m saying, just don’t say that, because then people who would help you won’t.” He explains: “I would love if we would just say ‘Defund the bad police.’”

Other celebrities, such as Hollywood’s Tyler Perry and NBA legend Charles Barkley, have disagreed with Smith. Instead, others have actually called for more police, not less.

Less police would disproportionally hurt poor communities who have less access to private security and protection. Smith also weighed in on “critical race theory,” saying it should be re-branded as “truth theory.”

Conservatives have widely condemned the teachings of critical race theory, which promotes the organization of society along racial lines. It promotes lies and wrongfully creates division among races, critics say. It also teaches the demonization of white people, critics say.

Despite this criticism, Smith gave his advice to proponents of critical race theory. “So ‘critical race theory,’ just call it ‘truth theory,’ ” Smith told GQ in an interview.

Smith was sent over the edge over a joke about his wife’s hair loss condition. “I can’t wait to see you in ‘G.I. Jane 2,’” Rock said, which drew an eye-roll from Pinkett Smith.

Apparently Smith found this joke to be so scary and mean that he proceeded to walk on stage and slap Rock in the face. After returning to his seat, Smith is heard yelling, “Keep my wife’s name out your f****** mouth!”

“Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me.” Rock explained “it just a ‘G.I. Jane’ joke.”

Again, Smith screamed, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”

“I will,” Rock answered before presenting the Best Documentary Feature to Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson’s “Summer of Soul.”
